About

Welcome to BetterVC

BetterVC explores how venture capital, impact investing, and emerging technologies can reshape global development, offering strategic insights for founders, funders, and systems thinkers.

This platform was designed to break down silos. Venture capital often speaks in Silicon Valley shorthand, while global development and impact investing operate in a separate world. BetterVC brings these conversations together, examining how capital and innovations are deployed to create measurable outcomes for underserved communities.

What I Write About

Through essays, case studies, and analysis, I explore:

  • Early-stage startup strategies that drive both growth and social impact
  • Impact investing models that balance financial returns with meaningful outcomes
  • Artificial intelligence and ethical tech in global development, including responsible deployment, risk, and equitable access
  • Guest spotlights on investors, founders, and practitioners sharing lessons from real-world projects

My goal is to make these insights actionable, whether you’re building a startup, structuring investments, or designing programs for social impact.

Who I Am

Nishitha Viswanathan

I’m Nishitha Viswanathan, founder of BetterVC. My background spans startups, venture capital, and global development. Over the past nine years, I’ve founded and scaled non-profit and for-profit startups, including an education initiative that has sponsored ~400 children in India and a Silicon Valley tech startup where I led product development, growth strategy, and team operations. I currently work in early-stage investing, focusing on pipeline development, due diligence, and impact measurement strategy.

I'm now building expertise at the intersection of AI and global development, exploring how machine learning and emerging technologies can be evaluated and deployed equitably in development interventions. BetterVC is my living portfolio: a space to share what I’m building, observing, and questioning.

Let's Connect

I created BetterVC to document what’s working and what’s worth rethinking in early-stage impact. If you’re working on something aligned, or know a founder or investor who should be featured, I’d love to hear from you.

Because building better ventures means building a better world.
